David is the principal GP at Peninsula Medical and is also the owner of the practice. He has considerable experience as a GP having practiced in Te Atatu Peninsula since 1983. He has special interests in family medicine, men’s health, geriatric medicine and the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialty. David also is the doctor caring for residents of CHT St Margarets hospital in Te Atatu Peninsula, which he has done for over 30 years.
Dr Akanksha Bhargava

Akanksha grew up and has trained in New Zealand and then obtained her General Practice Fellowship in Australia where she practiced prior to moving back home this year. She has several years of experience in General Surgery and Paediatrics (child health) and has achieved additional qualifications in Paediatrics and Skin Cancer Medicine. She has pursued her interest in the management of Skin Cancers being an accredited GP with Waitemata DHB skin lesion service.
You will find that she is notably knowledgeable, engaging and an excellent communicator. In addition to English, Akanksha is also fluent in Hindi.
Akanksha has recently returned from maternity leave having had a gorgeous son and is now well versed with life as a parent

Dr Richard Busfield

Richard is a very experienced GP having worked for nearly 20 years in General Practice in Auckland. Richard also has extensive experience in all areas of women’s health having worked for some years with one of New Zealand’s top gynaecology Professors. In his cheerful way you will find Richard to be thorough and considerate. He has a great love of sport, in particular football.

Dr Deidre Gaudard (Alecrim Gomes Gaudard Tavares)

Originally from South Africa where she graduated medical school in 2011. She has a passion for primary health care and has specialized as a Fellow to the College of Family Physicians in South Africa. She has experience in all fields of medicine, with special interests in geriatrics, paediatrics, and lifestyle conditions. She has a Diploma in HIV medicine & extensive experience in the field.
She also has significant experience in small surgical procedures and urgent care.
Deidre is fluent in English, Afrikaans and conversational Portuguese. She is a Mum of two children, and is a passionate musician.

Dr Mohan Chitgopeker
(MBBS, FRNZCGP, Dip Sports Medicine, Dip Ophthalmology)
Dr Mohan has been a GP since 1991, in New Zealand and Australia. He joined Peninsula Medical in 2020. He has extensive experience in minor surgical procedures including Vasectomies. His experience in ophthalmology, sports medicine, and Joint injections compliments the GP service he provides. He is also certified in cosmetic injectables, such as Botox and Fillers. He has special interests in managing Chronic disease such as Diabetes and Cardiovascular conditions in addition to mental health need.
Mohan enjoys playing golf, photography, cooking and pursues a passion to play the piano. He also loves all sport and is passionate about cricket having in the past been the NZ Cricket team Doctor for a number of years. He and his wife enjoy their family and their Bischeon Frise.

Dr Carolynn Moore

Carolynn has been part of the Peninsula Medical family for over 20 years. With a Diploma in Paediatrics, Carolynn has many years of GP experience and is skilled in all areas of general practice. She enjoys healthcare for the whole family and has developed a further interest in alcohol and drug rehabilitation.

Dr Gene Dillman
(MD, FRNZCGP)
Dr Gene completed his medical training at the University of Kentucky and practiced family medicine in the United States for 18 years before moving to Auckland in 2013. He enjoys the variety and challenges of General Practice as well as the wonderful opportunity to provide care to patients and their families over the whole life spectrum. Gene has special interests in wound care, minor surgery and long-term medical conditions. He enjoys downtime with his partner, cooking, gardening, reading, and listening to classical music.

Dr Wen-Hung (Howard) Huang

Dr Howard has been a GP in Ireland and has recently returned to New Zealand where he grew up and went to school. Dr Howard has additional training in Musculoskeletal Injury Management, has a Diploma in Paediatrics and experience in Ear, Nose and Throat medicine. You will find Dr Howard a good listener, who is also warm and considerate. Dr Howard also speaks Mandarin.

Dr Amy Ferguson
B. Med, Fellow of RACGP
Originally from Newcastle, Australia and trained as a Junior Doctor in NSW, Amy has been a GP for 4 years. She gained her RACGP Fellowship in March 2022. She loves the broad variety that family medicine offers. Amy moved to New Zealand in 2023 and has a young family.

Peninsula Medical Centre is an accredited teaching practice with the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners. We train qualified Doctors as specialist General Practitioners.
The training GPs are placed with us for a 6 month period as part of their 3 year GP training programme. After successful completion they become a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
They are given extra time to spend with the patients that they see.
